Hévíz, one of the biggest and most famous spa resorts in Hungary, is situated in the valley 6 km from Keszthely on the southwestern bank of Balaton. Water streaming from the crater keeps the water mass in constant slow motion and even more intensive motion is caused by circulation of cold water from the surface to the bottom and of warm water from the bottom to the surface. Slight water haze over the lake creates an unique view and makes outdoor swimming more comfortable also in the coldest winter days. This small village has only 5 000 citizens who live mainly off the local tourism and accomodation, which offers high quality services to the visitors whole year. The nearby situated castle Festetic in Keszthely is world famous for its library Helikon.
